Oil Spill and Marine Casualty Response Facility

Oil Spill Response — An important local need

In 1989, residents of Prince William Sound found out how devastating an oil spill could be to the ocean, the land, the fish and the wildlife and waterfowl. The Native Village of Eyak became involved to ensure that an oil spill response facility, as outlined in the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill consent decree, was built near our community to protect eastern Prince William Sound.
